US SOCCER RULES UPDATE - Stronger Policy To Protect Our Referees
Working Together to Keep Soccer Positive

Coastal Rush Families,
At Coastal Rush, we all share a common goal—creating a positive and safe environment for our players, referees, coaches, and families. We’re proud of the improvements we’ve seen on our sidelines, thanks to the support and sportsmanship of our parents and coaches. However, across the country, sideline behavior has become a growing concern, leading US Soccer to introduce new initiatives aimed at ensuring a respectful and enjoyable game for everyone.
As part of this effort, new policies will be in place starting March 1st to further reinforce positive sideline behavior and protect the game from verbal and physical abuse.
What This Means
✅
Respect for Referees: Everyone plays a role in supporting our officials. Any inappropriate behavior directed at referees will now carry clear consequences.
✅
Sideline Conduct: Coaches, parents, and spectators are encouraged to maintain a positive attitude, cheer on players, and avoid negative interactions with officials, players, or other families.
✅
Enforcement: These policies apply to all teams, leagues, and age groups under US Soccer’s jurisdiction to create a consistent standard nationwide.
We know that our families already do a great job of setting the right example, and we appreciate your continued support in making Coastal Rush a place where our kids can thrive.

Thank you for being such an important part of our soccer community. Let’s continue working together to make this sport a great experience for our kids!
